Way back, bathing was a far from an every day habit. Free standing roll top baths were in use in finer homes during the nineteenth century, but it was in the late Victorian era that these became more easily available to the middle classes and replaced the old tin bath hauled out every week or month! Unique variants were created across the country as virtually each town had its own foundry that made cast iron baths. The baths used to be lead painted then vitreous finishing became the norm, which of course was much safer for everyone.
Restoring an original cast iron bath is not something that happens overnight. In fact it takes us circa four weeks+. Each section of the process has to cure thoroughly before the next stage. With over 30 years of experience we should know. It’s why we established our exacting restoration and refurbishment process.
