What a pleasure to restore Shirley’s French Double End Bath and I think you’ll agree it looks absolutely stunning in this beautiful bathroom…..made us very welcome when we returned the bath – even home baked fruit cake!

From the first phone call with Alison to recent advice three years later, the whole experience with Antique Baths of Ivybridge has been a very positive one. We are so happy with the bath we chose and with all the helpful advice on suitable taps and shower attachments was very much appreciated. We would definitely buy a vintage bath from Antique Baths again for another bathroom project.
After seeing this rusty old boat, we became foolishly convinced it belonged with us but fought to find a restorer brave enough to tackle it! Thankfully we found Antique Bathrooms who worked their magic and made our slightly absurd vision come back to life.
The Yelverton is a lovely bath, and being 1600mm long and 700mm wide, is just right for our small – medium size bathroom. We are thrilled with it.
The bath is quite deep and double-ended, which we were a little unsure about, but it is very comfortable, and in fact is wonderfully relaxing to use, so that our bathroom now feels like a little oasis.
When we saw the bath in the showroom it had an Imperial mixer tap on it, which looked so right that we decided to have one of those too.
Alison and Stef were very helpful and more than happy to repaint the bath to our desired colour for free, which was so convenient. They also delivered the bath when we needed it.
The purchase of the Yelverton was a great decision and we are extremely happy with it.
Antique Baths inherited a problem with our Victorian bath that was nothing at all of their own making, yet they were incredibly helpful and proactive in sorting it all out. I was very impressed and grateful.
Truly stunning bath – I can’t wait to try it out! Donna and Nick couldn’t have been more helpful. Thoroughly recommended.
They’re so helpful and friendly. The baths are beautiful.
Stef and Alison couldn’t have been more helpful. And their baths are beautiful!
We always liked the idea of having a cast iron bath and it has been an ambition of ours to revive an original, which can be bought relative cheaply. The renovation process, if done properly, does come at a cost. But probably remains cheaper than buying a new bath and works better for the circular economy. What we hadn’t anticipated though, was how attached we would become to the bath through renovation, and feel responsible as custodians of an original. Having researched a number of companies we decided to go with Stef and Alison of Antique Baths of Ivybridge. The knowledge and care they put into the whole process filled us with confidence. The renovation was thorough and produced great results which we are really pleased with. But beyond that, we really enjoyed being involved in each step of the renovation. Stef and Alison gave sound advice throughout. They were able to source and renovate antique taps that worked with the soap dish that was integral to the bath. Stef restored the original brass waste pipe fittings so we didn’t have to discard them and buy new. Between us we were able to source and fit an antique plunger tube; we leant a lot about the history of these baths along the way! An original repair to the bath, possibly during the casting, was revealed, adding more personality and history to the bath. We even found an old coin wedged in the feet when they were removed for priming dating from the 1930s! I gave that a polish too. The layers of priming should see it protected for a good few years to come and the enamelling is excellent. We were able to choose the exact paint we required. A few inevitable scratches getting the bath up the tight bends of the stairs were repaired by Stef, who clearly takes great pride in the quality of his work. The final result is perfect. Thank you Antique Baths of Ivybridge!
We had our original 1930’s cast iron bath refurbished 2 months ago and we are over the moon with the result. Stef and Alison were so helpful and kept in contact throughout the process which took about 4 weeks. I could not have been more pleased with the bath, it came up looking like new. Stef was also able to advise on the various pipe connections that connect to the waste/overflow etc and was able to order these for us. Also he is able to refurbish old taps. Thank you so much, I would highly recommend.
